Susan is here!!

10/24/11
Susan is here!!!!~!! She too is in one piece! And neither of us had jet lag to speak of so we have been exploring the city and shopping up getting ready to head west.

At noon today the private car we have rented should arrive if all goes well. We have managed to land ourselves smack dab in the middle of two huge Nepali holidays (Deshain and Tihar/ Diwali - festival of lights) it makes it fun to expose Susan to flashes of Nepali culture she would otherwise miss but creates great headaches in transportation and lodging issues! Even the hotel is asking "Dawn Didi, when is your departure date?"

So the plan is to run out now and buy 15 KG of assorted yarn and rush back to finish packing and loading, trying to squeeze 4 suitcases, a roll of Plexiglas, all the yarn, three carry ons and two warm bodies into a Toyota Corolla! Our first stop on our way out of town is to the shop where we add 25# of cheese in two huge rolls to the remaining nooks and crannies in the vehicle! Then straight to Pokara... seeing the gorgeous countryside on the way. We plan to spend two nights with my friends M…. and N…… "relaxing and shopping" and Thursday bright and early plan to have our cab take us to SArankot to see the "Anapurna and Fish Tail mountain wake up at sunrise" then we will hit the trail to Dhangadi where we lose the air-conditioned (cushy huh?!) cab in favor of other Nepali adventures like a tour of a Tharu village and a trip to the Leprosy Colony before we head up the hills to Dadeldhura!

That is the plan.... in Nepal nothing ever goes by plan but pray we will get close and be flexible where we have to be... that is after all the adventure!

Tootles for now and coveting your prayers for safety, no bhunds, fun and the ability to seize the day!
