Blossoming Vision

8/15/11

Hey friends and family!
I am so excited to share the vision with you that God is developing in my heart and mind and already allowing to blossom!
God gave me the seeds about a year ago as we met the church elders in Dadeldhura to strategize a better solution to the living arrangements for R… and D…., the two paraplegics that have been wards of the hospital there for 13-20 years. They have spent most of the last 12 years there sharing a small apartment with a "common room"/tiny kitchen and bath. It has deteriorated into a "dungeon" over the years with a leaky roof, cement floors crumbling to the point Rama cannot get her wheelchair over the ruts without being lifted over them and the rats have full access to all their belongings! The bathroom is also a disaster. To boot... the location is isolated several hundred feet below the current hospital on the hillside away from main traffic and these girls could really benefit by more social interaction considering their limitations and disabilities.
The seeds sprouted last year a widow, S…, that Dare to Care has been working with over the years, volunteered her property to be built on for a new facility for the girls. She is a nurse and would also agree to check in on the girls daily. Her land (8 meters wide) is 2 lots away from the new bakery and right on the main road from the hospital to the market in Thupendhana. It is located just outside the hospital gate.

At that time, engineer Mark Gill from Ireland, drew up a clever plan for a wheelchair accessible facility. We had asked him to design with a cement roof in mind vs. a cheaper tin roof to allow S… to build up in the future should she so choose. The sprout grew a little!

This time while I was in Dadeldhura I met with Drs Doug and Ruth Lindberg over the same concerns. They are the field directors for TEAM (TEAM built the hospital and has been working in Dadeldhua for 43 + years). After much deliberation, they, in collaboration with TEAM leaders in Kathmandu, agreed to turn 2 lak of rupees ($3000) over to us at Dare to Care if we would raise the rest of the $10,000 needed to build this facility for them. So the plant is growing on fertile ground because it is God's and He grows what He desires!

Soooooo we are on the verge of what God seems to be moving forward in creating here!

Discussion with our Dare to Care board led to expansion of the building project! We decided that we could dream even bigger for His kingdom... if it be His will! Why not raise an additional sum to build a second floor that could be a training center for Dare to Care women to learn skills and obtain a hand up not just a hand out. This could also serve as a multipurpose room for the Church or other Christian organizations to use at times.

And why not raise a little more and build a third story for a guest house/housing for bringing teams to come and assist us and to facilitate you all to catch the vision in far west Nepal???!!!! In fact Dare to Care is pulling our first Team (6-8 people) together to go to Nepal this October to launch our construction project!

OK I'm dreaming big for God... why not!

We are asking Him for $40,000 to build and furnish this endeavor! A drop in the bucket for our great big God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills right! That is where you come in!
Could you pray us into this new facility? Could you give up a daily cup of coffee for a while to make a huge difference for these girls and the widows/single moms of far western Nepal?
Could you give up your dinner out on the town or entertainment to impact these women? (Yeah... you would need to donate that money to the project once you give it up!).

Could you donate $100, a $1000? $10,000 or even the whole amount?  With all of us pitching in we CAN make a difference! And a big one at that!

I am in the process of working out details with Nancy Sturrock at TEAM in Wheaton, Ill. to channel the funds for this through their account for the paraplegics as they already have:

1) ECFA status
2) Resources within Nepal to transfer funds so all is above board with the Nepali government.
3) An account for housing for these girls.

Email me if you are able to contribute to this worthy cause and I will send you the info you will need to get your donations into the correct account and get you a tax deductable receipt!

Also if you have any connections that either write grants or foundations that might fund those grants please contact me. OR if you have any fundraising ideas, energy, or ability to pull off a fundraiser please contact me! Know any philanthropists? Musicians/Artists who would do a free concert? Someone who would host a golf outing for a worthy cause? How about you??? Could you have a garage sale? Talk to your colleagues at work? Go door to door with a cold hard cash drive? Have Rotary connections? Or a bible study group who would take on a challenge?

I would welcome any and all help we can get to get these poor girls into a habitable house!
Looking forward to how God is going to bless our efforts and enthusiasm! He is good! I know for sure... the oppressed and downtrodden are always on His "to do list"... He loves and cares deeply for them all!

You are the best! I thank you in advance for your prayers and support!

Dawn Didi

PS feel free to pass this email on to those you know who would also pray or support this Dare to Care ministry!
