Hello Friends and family,
Just want to take a moment and thank
each of you that have rallied behind us on the mission with Dare to Care over
the last 9 years! It has always been such an encouragement to have you in our
corner and so interested in what God is doing in the remote corner of the
world, Nepal! So many of you have given generously and prayed faithfully and
encouraged us to persevere.
Already many of you have written and
asked " what does a window cost in Nepal" or "how can we
help"? I have put a list together of tangible items and our prayer
needs so am including them as attachments. If you, your family, your small
group, or your church could see your way to adopt a project of need we would be
most grateful. And PLEASE adopt us as your favorite prayer concern for the next
2 months!
I am so excited to take my good
friend, Diane Watrous with me this trip. She is the newly retired
postmistress of the Southworth post office and has co - lead
neighborhood Bible studies with me for the last 8 years.
We will be leaving Port Orchard WA
in April 3rd and arriving in Kathmandu on the 5th. We plan to take several days
to get over our jet lag and shop for many of the supplies listed before heading
for the hills. We are praying we can hire a private vehicle to cross the
country in instead of doing the 30 hour bus ride. This is not because she
couldn't hack the traumatic journey but partly cause we will have so much
luggage and partly cause I want to take her to Bhardia, the National Forest
Reserve for an elephant ride and to try to see tigers!
When we get up into the mountains
and to Dadeldhura where the bulk of our ministry will take place, we
anticipate supervising the remainder of the paraplegic building to go forward.
The retaining wall is in. So are the pillars and foundation. We have had 30
bags of cement and 2 truck loads of sand delivered. We need to buy bricks 8/$1
and begin building the walls to the anticipated tune of 50,000 bricks Then
comes the cement roof and plumbing, electrical, and windows and doors.
Meanwhile Diane and I will be repainting the bakery and working with Rama and
Digri, the 2 women paraplegics, on all kinds of knitting and crocheting designs
for marketable products.
We are praying for the right plumber
and electrician to surface and help us, ideally pro-bono. We have faith
God will provide these skilled tradesman exactly at the right time. If you are
these persons, have a passport and a month leave to come help us in the next 2
months, please let me know ASAP.
We will help you raise the $3500 needed
for the trip! Of course it will help if you have some or most of it yourself...
but we will pray the balance. Remember Our Lord has infinite resources!
We are looking to put a team
together for October to go over and assist with remaining needs and
challenges. If God has been pulling at your heart strings to go...
obey and start now preparing with all of the above ( passport, funds, time
off, etc.)
On a personal note, Hospice is
allowing me to change my status to "per Diem" and have a job to
return to. PTL
Another praise! God provided a free
Special reclining wheelchair for Digri, the para that has not been out of bed
but about 3 times in the last 16 years! This will sooo change her life enabling
her to get out of her bed and her room and expand her life in unimaginable
ways! She will be soooo excited! It is a surprise so those of you in Dadeldhura
please help keep the secret. We pick up the wheel chair this next
week. God has been so amazing... the lady that donated it, runs a nursing home
in Allyn ( 30 - 40 minutes from here) and happened into a shop in Allyn ( Wild
Rose of Allyn) where they help market our girls/ students wares and
immediately arranged for me to come share about Dare to Care and show their products!
SO you are all also invited, if you
are in the area, from 3PM - 7 PM on Good Friday 3/29/13. She is inviting the
whole community, preparing what she called "Hard Hordourves" and I am
providing Tibetan Tea and beverages. There will be 2 presentations at 3 and 6
pm and mad shopping opportunities in between! We will also raffle off a
gorgeous hand beaded / sequined tapestry. So bring your friends!
Yesterday I had a chance to share
with 100 homeschoolers at Christ the Rock church in Port Orchard, WA. What a
neat experience. They had all the children write me a note of encouragement or
draw me a picture... what a gift! it moved me to tears! And the sweet
generosity of their concern and response was amazing. One little boy ran up
with $10 and said "here's for 80 bricks!" 2 other little
kindergartner girls brought me 12 cents each for "their bricks!"
It was all I could do not to melt into tears! They ( this home school
group) collectively have started our brick drive and purchased the first 2,952
bricks!!!! Isn't that great!
Perhaps this gives you ideas of a
way your club or community could help us make a Kingdom difference in the lives
of impoverished women and children in Nepal! If you have a creative idea or
just want to pledge for a project off the attached list call me at 630 -
272- 0512 or email me really soon. We only have 3 weeks till
departure though fundraising ideas of course can be implemented and on-going
while I am there in the field doing the hands on implementation of your
generosity!
Please let me know if your school,
church or club could have me come share the vision of the mission with your
friends! I will work them into my schedule!
Thanks again for watching my back as
we go to serve again!
For His Glory and Praise,
Dawn Didi
